For the fifth consecutive year the Classic Sports Racing Group will organize the CSRG Charity Challenge presented by Maserati at Infineon Raceway, to benefit the Sonoma (Calif.) County chapter of the Speedway Children’s Charities, part of a nationwide program to provide assistance for children in need.
On the weekend of Oct. 10–12 the focus of attention will be on vintage and historic racing cars from a variety of categories, including Historic Grand Prix (1966-’83), pre-tubeframe NASCAR (1950-’82), the legendary Can-Am, Formula Junior, as well as five additional groups of production and racing cars from the half-century between 1930 and 1980.
The weekend’s on-track action will be supplemented by a variety of charitable activities, beginning with Friday evening’s casual dinner and live auction for which tickets are $250 per person and can be obtained either by calling CSRG at (925) 736-2823 or visiting the Web site at www.CSRGracing.org
Saturday’s activities include a silent auction of automobilia, hotel packages, and other automotive-related items—including track rides in the Maserati pace car—while on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons anyone 16 years of age or older can make a donation of $75 or more and be given a three-lap tour of the circuit at speed in one of the vintage cars on hand. Sign-ups are at the track only, and long lines are expected, so get there early.
