Each year the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance features leading automotive collectors from around the world by selecting two as the event’s Pinnacle and Honored Collectors. This year those honorees are, respectively, Ken Gross and Robert (“Bob”) Jepson Jr.
Their unparalleled collections will be featured both Saturday and Sunday, November 4 and 5, 2017, at the Port Royal Golf Club on Hilton Head Island. “We are thrilled to be featuring both men this year and are excited that attendees will get to see these unmatched automobiles,” said Carolyn Vanagel, president of the Motoring Festival. “Ken and Bob are among the most respected in the collector hobby, and will certainly add major eye candy to this year’s event.”
For this year’s event, Gross has pulled together a display of four automobiles from across the country that represent the exhibits he has become known for sourcing for museums from coast to coast. The four are a 1937 Delahaye Type 135 Special Roadster from the Collier Collection at Revs Institute in Naples, Florida, a 1937 Bugatti 57S Atalante owned by William Connor from Reno, Nevada, a 1959 Cadillac Cyclone from GM’s Heritage Collection in Sterling Heights, Michigan and a 1955 Chrysler (Ghia) Streamline X named Gilda from the Buzz Calkins Collection in Centennial, Colorado.
Jepson, in contrast, will bring four cars from his own Savannah, Georgia-based collection. They are a 1925 Locomobile Model 48-9 Four-Door Convertible by Derham, a 1926 McFarlan Model 145 TV-6 Seven-Passenger Tourer , a 1927 Isotta Fraschini 8-AS Dual Cowl Phaeton by LeBaron and a 1929 Cord L-29 Cabriolet (above, photo courtesy of Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance).
