• On February 6, Artcurial Motorcars returns to Paris for the official Retromobile Salon auction sale. In 2015, there will be close to 160 automobiles on offer, with several star lots already announced, including Roger Vadim and Jane Fonda’s Ferrari 275 GTB and the ex-Malcolm Campbell Bugatti Type 43, each worth several million euros.
• The RM group of companies celebrated its 35th anniversary in the collector car business in 2014 with its best performance to date: $470 million in auction sales with numerous new records established. • Mecum’s Kansas City December auction saw 382 classic and collector cars sell on the auction block with a 2005 Ford GT claiming the title of the highest-dollar vehicle ever sold at a Mecum Kansas City auction. Sale totals reached $8,253,041 and a near 70 percent sell-through rate was achieved. With just 5,631 original miles on its odometer and dressed in White with Blue Le Mans Stripes, the 2005 Ford GT offered in Kansas City followed the trends seen at virtually every Mecum auction this year hammering at a strong $290,000—the highest price ever achieved for a lot offered at a Mecum Kansas City event. Other top sales included a Resto-modded 1969 Chevrolet Camaro that gaveled at $94,000 and a rotisserie- restored 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible that changed hands for $85,000.
• RM Auctions, together with Auctions America, generated $11,543,400 in sales with 100 percent of lots sold at its Sam Pack Five Star Collection sale in Dallas, Texas. Headlining the Saturday sale was a 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra. A part of the collection since 2008, the iconic American sports car sold for for a strong $1,292,500.
