The near-mythical 2016 Goodwood Members Meeting was staged March 19-20 on the 7-turn, 2.4-mile Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex, England. From jaw-dropping cars and enthralling on-track action to sensational off-track festivities, the historic motorsport spectacle more than lived up its billing for Goodwood Road Racing Club members and their guests.
Created by Goodwood owner, Lord March, to recreate the atmosphere and camaraderie of the original BARC Members’ Meetings held at Goodwood Motor Circuit in the 1950s and ‘60s, the Goodwood Members Meeting conjures up some of the most evocative sights and sounds from the golden era of motor racing. The 2016 Goodwood Members Meeting featured 11 races for a huge range of historic cars and, for the first time ever, motorcycles; three high-speed demonstration runs also celebrated some of the most iconic racing cars in the sport’s varied history.
Senior Photographer Julien Mahiels documented the 2016 Goodwood Members Meeting. In addition to his race gallery, we offer the following selection of images from Julien that offer a ‘Behind the Scenes’ look at this year’s magical Members Meeting.

Simply… stunning!
It would be nice if there were captions to identify the cars in the photos!
especially for the newer/new comers
Just unbelievable! It’s the Revival extended to the Seventies. Mr. Mahiel’s art conveys all the emotion of those days, when pure design and sheer power claimed a high human cost.
Excellent….Could’nt get any better .!!!
The Members Meetings here or on TV never fail to have me drooling – so many cars from my youth. I hope they continue for ever! I have just one small reservation – the name. I never attended a Goodwood Members meeting but I did read reports in Motor Sport Magazine and I also marshaled at Silverstone, Aintree, Mallory Park and Oulton Park members meetings and I don’t remember such exotic machinery. Most of the grids were Anglias, A35’s and TR2’s. Sure we usually had an F3 race and the odd Cooper Monaco or Brabham BT8 turned up but that was it – no F1 or exotic group C cars. The meetings are fine – just the name makes an old fart, well past his sell-by date, raise his eyebrows!
