The Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue was held Tuesday, August 11th on the downtown streets of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. While several events claim to kick-off Monterey Week, only “Carmel Concours” can truly do so.
Typically held on the Monday and Tuesday of Monterey Week, organizers condensed the two days into one single-day event for 2009. Therefore, instead of in previous years where Ferrari and Porsche were featured on Monday and multi-marques on Tuesday, this year featured both on Tuesday, limited to 180 cars.
Consistent with prior years, we are pleased to report that the setting, free admission, casual attitude and an interesting and diverse set of collector cars were still intact. Best of Show went to the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa owned by Jon Shirley.
The Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours supports The Carmel Foundation in their work to provide a wide variety of services to Monterey Peninsula seniors.
