• One of the keys to the success of Jim Hall’s Chaparral Cars, Troy Rogers, has passed away at the age of 84 following a long illness. Rogers was integral to the Chaparral operation that enjoyed success in sports car racing, Indycars and Formula 5000. He’ll be the subject of next month’s “Fast Lines” column by Pete Lyons.
• Americans Charles Nearburg and James King won the Touring Class and finished 11th overall in the 2013 Tour Auto with Nearburg’s newly acquired 1965 Alfa Romeo GTA. Some 312 cars started the five-day event that consisted of a dozen special stages and hillclimbs, as well as four circuit races—Le Mans Bugatti, Magny Cours, Albi and Val de Vienne—while covering approximately 2500 kilometers of the French countryside. The overall winners were Carlos Monteverde of Brazil and Gary Pearson of the UK, driving a 289 Cobra.
