Officials of the Put-in-Bay Sports Car Races today confirmed that the 2021 event will take place from Tuesday September 21 to Friday September 24, 2021 with racing at the Put-in-Bay Airport on Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd. (These same dates were announced as “tentative” when this year’s event was cancelled in early July.)
In making the announcement, Event co-founder and race director Jack Woehrle said that 2021 event registration will open no later than early January 2021 and possibly sometime in December. He added that all 2020 entrants who “rolled over” their entry for this year will be automatically registered for 2021. The planned 2020 featured marques – Saab, VW, Volvo and Turner – will also carry over for the 2021 event.
“We are hopeful that circumstances a year from now will allow us to provide an event that lives up to the Put-in-Bay Sports Car Races’ reputation for enjoyment, camaraderie and competitive but respectful vintage racing,” said Woehrle.
The annual (except 2020) Put-in-Bay Sports Car Races began as a small reunion in 2009 to celebrate and capture the history of the original Put-in-Bay Road Races held on the narrow streets of Ohio’s South Bass Island in the 1950s and early ‘60s. Evolving from “Reunion” to “Racing” by 2012 at the Put-in-Bay Airport, the event draws racing- and non-racing entrants from all over North America.
