The 17th annual Palos Verdes Concours d’Elegance will return to the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA on Sunday, September 13, 2009, when more than 200 classic automobiles will assemble on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Italian automobiles will be the overall theme for this year, with Maserati as the official marque. Among those on display will be Nick Colonna’s 1957 Maserati 200Si, Serial #2412, originally sold to John Kimberly, founder and chairman of Kimberly Clark. Other classes will include American and European classics and unique race cars.
To honor its theme “All Things Italian,” this year’s event will devote 12 of its 21 classes exclusively to Italian vehicles, according to Chairman Peter Kunoth.
“Since Enrico Bernardi built his gasoline-powered three-wheeler in 1884, Italian cars have occupied a special niche in the history of the automobile,” Kunoth stated. “Performance, style and engineering have been a hallmark of the Italian auto industry, leading to pre-eminence in racing and consumer vehicles for more than 100 years.”
Event proceeds will benefit the community and outreach programs of the Palos Verdes Art Center and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Foundation. The Palos Verdes Concours d’Elegance is a 501 (c) (3) tax-deductible nonprofit charity.
