The VR European team was out in force for the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at Birmingham’s National Event Centre. The main display featured Jim Clark’s 1963 World Championship-winning Lotus 25 (above) together with Cedric Selzer—Clark’s number one mechanic that season—who was selling and signing his recent book, If You Have Come Second You Have Lost, with all proceeds going to Marie Curie Cancer Care. Also on display was a 1947 Fiat 1100S Coupe with significant Mille Miglia history that proved to be quite a head turner. Completing the trio of cars was the Costin-bodied Lister Jaguar BHL 133 (right), the ex-Pete Harrison car driven mainly in East Coast American races during the early 1960s.
VR European Editor Mike Jiggle said, “Firstly, I wish to extend my thanks to Classic Team Lotus, Hall & Hall and JD Classics for all their help and support in providing vehicles for our stand. Each car has caught the eye and imagination of the public. This is the first time we’ve exhibited at this show, judging by the response and the amount of new subscribers it has proved a great success.”
