Billing itself as “the largest selection of vintage racing photos on the Internet,” Dale LaFollette’s Vintage Motorphoto is a resource for everything from the earliest days of automotive competition up to the present day. LaFollette was, for many years, the manager of Portland International Raceway, and has always harbored a passion for the sport. He’s been collecting the items and images offered here since he was 19 years old.
The categories available for perusal by visitors are broken down into separate archives for the periods from 1900–1930, 1931–1949, 1950–1960, and 1961 on, plus separate sections for Oval Track and Land Speed Record aficionados, as well as other relevant memorabilia such as autographs, programs, and posters. In this latter grouping, you can find items such as programs and posters from American board track races in the 1920s, or the Donington GP won by Tazio Nuvolari, as well as posters from the Fangio era in Formula One and Le Mans in the 1970s; but if we told you everything that was there, it would spoil your individual investigations. So go check it out; you won’t be disappointed. And, oh yes, for you party animals, there’s even a section with Wildlife Images.
