The U.S. Vintage Grand Prix 2011 was held September 8-11 at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York.
Sanctioned by SVRA, the U.S. Vintage Grand Prix is historically one of the largest vintage car races in the States. While the 2011 edition was plagued by wet weather, a field of more than 300 entrants took to the 3.4 mile, 11-turn Watkins Glen International road circuit. In addition to the featured marque Nissan / Datsun, the historic race weekend included the downtown festival and re-enactment on the original 1948 race course, Collier Cup Race and special tribute to MGs.
Similar to the 2010 races, photographer Michael DiPleco also documented the racing action from the U.S. Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen with the following 225+ images that show the strong field at the Glen.

Marvelous use to the color on the front straight at the Glen. Really enjoyed those images, and the others too of course. Many thanks SCD and Mr. DiPleco.
I believe that picture 94 is of Richard (Soapy) Madia in his car #38. Owned by he and Geneva Foreign & Sports on RT 14 in Geneva at the other end of Seneca Lake. Thanks for the great coverage of the event. Really enjoyed the pictures. Great to show the rest of the world how beautiful it is here.
Great photos from the Glen. I wondered if it’s possible to acquire some of the photos in hi-res?
In particular I’m interested in the grid and start of the Collier Cup race (3 photos)

Thank you. 🙂
I met the guys in the Lotus Ford Cortina the week before at Lime Rock. Veryy nice guys in a cool car, wrenching and working on it. They had shipped the car over from the UK and were sharing the car on a shoe string budget. Very cool road trip.
Fantastic photos! The shot of the Jerry Titus Mustang is wonderful. Thanks for those and the shots at Lime Rock.
Great pictures! Lovely blend of cars and scenery.
