Interview: Sir Jack Brabham

There are a number of names synonymous with Cooper. Charles and John Cooper, of course, but there is one other. Without him perhaps the English manufacturer would not have reached the heights of success that it did. We are talking, of course, about Australian Sir Jack Brabham who arrived on the English motor racing scene after making a name for himself in his homeland. It wasn’t to be too long before he drove rear-engined Coopers into two World Championships and changed the course of motorsport for evermore. Our South Pacific Editor Patrick Quinn caught up with Sir Jack in his hometown of Sydney to chat about those halcyon days behind the wheel of Cooper cars.

Sir Jack, thank you for agreeing to speak to us about your time with Coopers, but I would like to go back to when you sold your speedway car in Sydney and bought a BSA-powered MkIV Cooper.
