In the May issue, the editor referred to Scirocco as an American F1 outfit, and that is the official version, but the story is more complicated than that. The cars raced in the white and blue of the USA, but the Scirocco badge had seven stars because the team operated from behind the Seven Stars pub in Goldhawk Road, London.
I find Scirocco fascinating because it demonstrates how motor racing in Britain operated at the level below Brabham, BRM, Cooper, and Lotus. It was a web of connections, with people forming short partnerships as they jockeyed for position.
