The 1965 Le Mans-winning NART Ferrari 250LM driven by Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory and currently owned by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, took home the Best of Show award from the recent Saratoga Wine & Food Festival in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. This car remains the last Ferrari to win the 24-hour French classic overall.
Larry Auriana’s NART Ferrari 512M, which Sam Posey and Tony Adamowicz drove to 3rd overall at Le Mans in 1971, won the event’s Luigi Chinetti Award. Also on display was the NART Ferrari 365P2, presently owned by Peter Sachs, that Pedro Rodriguez and Jean Guichet drove to victory in the 12 Hours of Reims in 1965.
The event also featured a panel discussion of former NART participants as well as exhibition of the period photography of Tom Burnside from the book he and honored guest Denise McCluggage authored called American Racing: Road Racing in the ’50s and ’60s. A number of other historic Ferraris were also on hand, as well as a host of other special-bodied cars.
