The 2010 Russo and Steele “Monterey Sports and Muscle” auction will be held August 12-14 at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Monterey, California. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2010, Russo and Steele’s expanded, three-day auction offers a diverse set of more than 250 cars.
Headlining the sale is the 1971 AMC Javelin Race Car that won the 1971 Trans-Am Championship at the hands of racing legend Mark Donohue. This Penske-prepared AMC, winner of seven out of ten races in 1971, would make a great addition to a collection, in addition to a beast on the vintage circuit. Other highlights include the ex-Parnelli Jones 1969 Ford Boss 302 Trans-Am Race Car; ex-Holman and Moody factory-backed team car 1963 Shelby Cobra CSX2009; 1965 Shelby Cobra CSX2461; 1933 Auburn Auburn Salon Boatail Speedster and a “Survivor” 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427/435 Roadster.
In 2009, Russo and Steele offered 123 cars, with 60 finding new owners, reflecting a 49% sales rate. The total sales volume was $4,999,985 and the average price per car sold was $83,333.
