Sold in 1987 for $8 million, the Bugatti Royale long held the world record for the most expensive car ever sold at auction. Now, the same example, previously owned by such notables as Miles Collier, Briggs Cunningham and even Ettore Bugatti himself, will be offered for private sale by Bonhams & Brooks with an estimated price tag of over $10 million.
Considered one of the rarest and most collectable of all automobiles, the Royale holds many other records, including the longest production chassis ever made and the largest production engine at 12.7-liters. For more information contact Mark Osborne at (415) 391-4000.
