• Peg Bishop, wife of John Bishop, passed away on August 20. The Bishops played a central role a golden era of American road racing, and Peg was actively involved alongside her husband. As executive director of the SCCA in the 1950s and ‘60s, John brought professional road racing to the USA with creation of the USRRC, Can-Am and Trans-Am series. When John founded IMSA in 1969, Peg took a hands-on role as registrar and secretary of the sanctioning body. They worked together there until selling the organization in 1989, and later became the creative drive behind the establishment of the International Motor Racing Research Center at Watkins Glen, which is dedicated to John and where he remains chairman emeritus.
• The Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) has announced that Ferrari will be the featured marque for the 2014 Sommet des Lègendes event scheduled for next July 11-13 at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant in St. Jovite, Quebec. Located in the picturesque Laurentian Mountains just 80 miles from Montreal, the circuit is one of the finest in North America, and the event will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the track by featuring production-based Ferrari racecars from the 1960s and ’70s alongside Ferraris that contested the FIA Manufacturers Championship of Makes.
