The Avd Oldtimer Grand Prix 2012 was staged 10-12 August at the Nurburgring race track in Germany, with 600 participants and in excess of 50,000 spectators enjoying for the 40th running of the historical racing event.
BMW was a partner of this year’s AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix as they celebrated the 40th anniversary of the BMW Motorsport and the division’s motorsport heritage. Attracting particular attention was the BMW M “Jubilaumsrennen” (anniversary races) open to all BMW racing cars developed by BMW Motorsport GmbH since 1972. For the special race, BMW Classic lined up five BMW racing cars piloted by familiar figures. These included two BMW M1 Group 4 racers, a BMW 320 Group 5 car, a BMW M3 Group A (1987) model and the BMW 320i STW (1995). They were piloted by four BMW touring car drivers, with Dieter Quester, Prince Leopold of Bavaria, Marc Surer and Marc Hessel all getting behind the wheel. Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice-President BMW Group Design, rounded off the list of drivers.

One of the best events on the European continent and with Julien’s images a superb insight view. Great images as always.
It was a fantatic weekend, and thanks to Julien´s fabulous photographs I can share my weekend with friends that were not able to be present. My son Ashley and I travelled by car, nearly 16 and a half hours from our home in Sweden, virtually non stop, to Nurburg where we were staying with friends. IT`S ALWAYS WORTH IT, Europe´s best Historic Race weekend. thanks again Julian.
