A group representing U.S. owners of Formula Juniors have announced a series of Formula Junior-only races to be held in 2006. Three dedicated Formula Junior grids will be fielded in conjunction with CSRG races at Thunderhill (May 12–14), Laguna Seca Raceway (September, TBD) and Infineon Raceway (13–15). Other Formula Junior fields are tentatively planned for the Monterey Historics (August 18–20) and the Wine Country Classic at Infineon (June 3–4).
Organizers of this group hope to build upon this year’s schedule and ultimately create a full American Formula Junior series in the coming years. According to point man Marc Nichols, “This new initiative will recognize cars in several classifications, reflecting the changes in design and technology that occurred over the course of the Formula Junior era.” More information on these events and the organization can be had by contacting Marc Nichols at (530) 272-3882 or [email protected]
