The Mecum Monterey Daytime Auctions 2013 will be held August 15-17 at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa in Monterey, California. A strong and diverse selection of more than 700 vehicles are expected to cross the auction block during the three-day event.

The 5th annual Mecum Monterey sale will be headlined by the 1955 Porsche 550/1500 RS Spyder; 1954 Ferrari 750 Monza; 1964 Shelby 289 Independent Competition Cobra; 1984 Lotus Type 95T John Player Special; 1990 Ferrari F40; 1938 Delage D8-120 Aerosport Coupe; 1982 Jaguar XJR-5 GTP; 1985 March Buick 85G GTP; 1909 Locomobile Model 40 Type I Demi Tonneau; among others.

Mecum’s line-up includes a diverse selection of Porsche models, with three of the machines coming from the Peter and Cheryl Dunkel Collection including their 550 Spyder. Chassis number 550-0077 was actively campaigned by European driver Goethals, winning the 1500CC class at the GP des Frontiers in Chimay and the Coupe de Salon in Montlhéry among numerous strong overall showings. The Dunkel Collection also includes a race-ready 1958 356A Speedster Race Car, a matching-numbers 1963 356B Carrera 2 Coupe, a 1954 Porsche Allgaier A133 Diesel tractor and 1954 International Harvester R140 Woody, among others.

In 2012, Mecum offered 599 cars, with 348 finding new owners, reflecting a 62.3% sales rate. The total sales volume was $32,257,660 and the average price per car sold was $92,694. Top sale went to the 1972 Porsche 917/10 Spyder that sold for $5,830,000. (See 2012 Mecum Monterey – Auction Report).

The Mecum Monterey Daytime Auctions 2013 will take place August 15th to 17th at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel on Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey, California. Previews will start at 8:00 am on Thursday, August 15th, and continue through Saturday, August 17th. The auctions will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday through Saturday. All buyers, sellers and spectators are welcome to attend; vehicle previews area on the Del Monte Golf course are complimentary. Auction seating area may be reserved for registered bidders only.
