For the 1964 U.S. Grand Prix, a political squabble led Ferrari to paint its cars in American blue-and-white and enter them through Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team (NART). Surtees led this race but finally placed 2nd to Graham Hill's BRM, good enough to raise himself to 2nd in points. He finished the job and became World Champion at the season finale, Mexico.
