Description

We have the pleasure to offer this well known “Fujifilm” livered Porsche 996 GT3 RSR with VIN “3S692068” for sale.

Somewhat confusing, the model’s name contains “GT3” whereas these cars were competing in the GT2 class according to the ACO and FIA GT Regulations.

In 1998 Porsche finally put the air-cooled flat-6 cylinder engine to rest. The 996 was the new 911 and its chassis was the GT car for the future of Porsche Motorsport. Every component of the 996 was new, chassis, bodywork, gearbox, engine, suspension, engine management, and cooling system. At the time of its launch in 1999, the new GT3R was made to the current ACO rules for the GT category. The Porsche 996 GT3R was updated in 2001 to become the 996 GT3RS and then again in 2004 to become the 996 GT3RSR. In total, less than 200 cars were built over the 6-year period and the 996 GT3 R(S)R is one of the most successful GT cars ever built and has won its class in every arena it has entered such as 24hrs of Le Mans, 24hrs of Spa, 24hrs of Daytona, FIA GT championship, etc..

Our car, VIN WP0ZZZ99Z3S692068, was born as a 996 GT3RS and delivered in April 2003 to the Ice Pol Racing Team of Belgium where Yves Lambert and Christian Lefort raced the car – in Gordon’s Finest Beer livery – successfully in the 2003 Spa 24hr (4th in class) and the 2004 Belcar Championship which they won in the GTB class. After an accident at Zolder in 2004, the car was rebuilt on a new RSR factory shell and sold to Peter Mamerow who raced the car with his son Christian in its current Fujifilm livery in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 VLN Championship where they finished on the podium 6 times out of 12 races. After an accident at the Nurburgring in April 2007, the car was rebuilt with the very last RSR factory shell (body number 0440062) and updated to full RSR specification with 3.8 liter engine and sequential gearbox.

Peter Mamerow then sold the car to Franz Groos who ran it from 2008 to 2010 in the VLN Championship, paired with Guido Wortz and Leonard Schiller. After sitting idle for 4 years at Gross Motorsport, Peter Mamerow bought his RSR back in 2014 and raced it – prepared by Jurgen Lasner Motorsport and now in white and grey Mamerow livery – in the 2014 and 2015 STT, VLN and DMV-GTC Championship with multiple class wins.

The car was then sold to Michael Joos (Team Joos Sportwagentechnik who continued to race the car from 2015 to 2018 in the STT, Dunlop 60 and Porsche Historic Challenge. In 2019, the car was completely rebuild by Jurgen Lasner Motorsport and put back in its iconic Fujifilm livery upon which it was bought by its current Belgian owner who has since raced the car successfully in Peter Auto’s Endurance Racing Legends achieving multiple class wins and winning the 2022 GT2C Championship.

In its 20-year racing career, this car has taken part in 70 races, 33 of which on the Nurburgring Nordschleife alone. Along the way it was the class champion in the 2004 Belcar, won 5 races overall with 10 overall podiums as well as achieving 17 class wins and 36 class podiums (the history file with the car is over 500 pages)!

Since 2019, the car has been maintained by Motor Roitmayer Sport and is now offered for sale in 100% race-ready condition with all date-related items current and just 13 hours on the engine and gearbox (new diff with 2 hours on it). The car has excellent documentation including its Wagenpasses, technical Passport and comes with good spares including multiple wheel sets, body parts and running spares.

This stunning “Fujifilm” Porsche GT3 RSR is ready to continue its racing career as a well known and competitive entry in many historic race series such as Peter Auto’s ERL2 and Masters Endurance Legends.
