The Grand Prix de Reims; Reims-Geuex, July 6, 1947. Here is a classic Klemantaski portrait of Prince B. Bira in his Simca-Gordini before La Coupe des Petites Cylindrées which he was to win, leading a Gordini sweep of the first three places. Standing to Bira’s left is Amédée Gordini himself, “le Sorcier,” with his constant cigarette almost out of sight in his left hand. Standing to Bira’s right is Gordini’s long-time mechanic Libére Teso. The small group to the left in the photograph, which seems immune to what is happening around the car, provides a most interesting counterpoint. Photo by Louis Klemantaski.
