VR: In the immortal words of Sigmund Freud, tell me about your childhood. How did you first get started with cars?
DR: Well, I was—what’s the term I’m looking for—I was cursed from birth. My father was a prototype builder for GM for over 40 years, starting there during Harley Earl’s reign. My mother was a leadfoot, who got more speeding tickets than my father did. My destiny was decided early that I was going to be in trouble when it came to cars.
