Though often overlooked by many historians, the history of Australian road racing is rich with a long and varied selection of series, drivers and interesting cars. This month’s featured Web site is the project of an Australian race mechanic from the ’50s and ’60s and is in the form of a personal photographic scrapbook.
Organized by photographer, this site features a large selection of photographs spanning more than 50 years of club and professional road racing. Of particular interest is an outstanding series of never-before-seen photos taken during the late ’60s Tasman series and Australian Grand Prix. These photos include many rare shots of Jim Clark, Graham Hill and the Lotus team just prior to Clark’s tragic death at Hockenheim. Other interesting photos include a series of Jack Brabham during the very early days of his career.
