The Mecum Auctions Original Spring Classic 2015 auction will be held May 12-17 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Dana Mecum’s 28th annual Spring Classic sale will be headlined by muscle cars, Corvettes and individual collections among an estimated 2,000 vehicles at the six-day Indy event.

This year’s Original Spring Classic catalog collection showcase will take place during Thursday and Friday evening and throughout the afternoon on Saturday, May 15-17. Headline entries at the 2015 Mecum Indy sale include the lowest-mileage 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda (Est. $600,000 – $800,000) known to exist; a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird (Est. $375,000 – $450,000) with 24,925 actual miles that has been documented with the broadcast sheet; a 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T (Est. $200,000 – $250,000) owned by current caretaker since 1979 and a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe (Est. unavailable) that won NCRS Top Flight in 2015.
The Don Davis Collection will also be featured at the Mecum Original Spring Classic 2015, with an assemblage of 18 cars that reflect Davis’ 35 years of dedication to acquiring cars. The collection, a majority of which has been treated to concours-quality restorations, is highlighted by his two Shelby Cobra Roadsters, a restored 1967 Shelby 427 CSX3356 (Est. unavailable) and an automatic-equipped 1965 Shelby 289 CSX2549 (Est. unavailable). Also to be offered from the Collection is a 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta (Est. $850,000 – $1,000,000) that was factory built to U.S. specifications and is unrestored save for a single repaint and a 1965 Shelby GT350 Fastback (Est. $375,000 – $425,000) with its original, matching-numbers 289/306 HP engine.
Other featured collections include the 1958 Fuelie Collection (Lots S91-S98), a selection of eight 1958 Fuelie Chevrolet Corvettes representing every color available that year from Larry Gerig’s Corvette Classic Museum in Fort Wayne, Indiana; the Danny Hill Collection (Lots S130-S149), a selection of 23 big-block muscle cars from the Golden Era of Muscle; the Rick Baker Ford Collection (Lots F213-F241); the Mike Yager ‘My Garage’ Collection (Lots T226-T236), a group of 11 Corvettes from the Effingham, Illinois-based auto museum owned by Yager, CEO of MidAmerica Motorworks; and a quartet of muscle cars from the Mike Guarise Collection (Lots S103-S106).
From the Mike Guarise Collection comes a 1971 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Convertible, one of 10 produced with factor air (Est. $90,000 – $120,000), while offerings from the Rick Baker Ford Collection include a 2005 Ford GT (Est. $300,000 – $350,000) with 310 original miles offered on the original MSO with factory warranty and a matching-numbers 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback (Est. $300,000 – $350,000).
Another highlighted consignment is the 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB NART Spider Conversion (Est. $2,900,000 – $3,500,000). Originally a long-nose 275 GTB, this Ferrari was converted to alloy-bodied N.A.R.T. Spider form in Italy. Chassis 08039 retains its original matching-numbers V-12 engine and is offered complete with import, title and maintenance documentation.
The Mecum Auctions Original Spring Classic 2015 is open to buyers, sellers and spectators. Bidder registration is $100 and includes admission for two for all six auction days. General admission tickets are available at the gate for $20 per person, per day; children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission. Doors open each day at 8 a.m. with the auction beginning daily at 10 a.m. NBC Sports Network will broadcast 15 hours of auction coverage, including seven live, and a live stream of the entire auction will be presented at Mecum.com.
