A line-up of Italian sports and racing cars will be featured at the 2013 Gooding & Company Pebble Beach auction, scheduled for August 17th and 18th in Pebble Beach, California. Among the auction highlights include a 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C Competizione 2500 from the “Sleeping Beauties” collection, a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Long Nose Alloy and a 1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast with only one owner since 1966.

“In celebration of Gooding & Company’s 10th Anniversarya as the official auction house of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, we are pleased to present a stellar line up of Italian marques,” said David Gooding, President and founder of Gooding & Company.”Our Pebble Beach Auctions will offer collectors the opportunity to bid on a selection of the finest race cars ever produced.”

The 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Competizione, chassis number 920.002, was one of two factory racing cars developed during the 1947-1948 racing seasons, driven consistently by driver Franco Rol for four straight years. Alfa Romeo raced 920.002 on the Mille Miglia on four separate occasions, Targa Florio three times and other important Italian events. Decades later, the 6C 2500 was unearthed as part of the infamous French “Sleeping Beauties” collection. Equipped with a twin-cam six cylinder engine, triple Weber dual-throat carburetors and a dry sump oil system, the alloy-bodied Alfa Romeo is estimated to sell for $2,800,000 to $3,500,000.

The 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Long-Nose Alloy was among the first of 25 alloy-bodied, long nose 275 GTBs created. Chassis 07887 was the show car for the Paris Auto Salon. An original and matching-numbers, six-carburetor engine example, the Giallo Fly GTB has three platinum awards and Ferrari Classiche certification to its credit (Estimate: $2,250,000 – $2,500,000).

The 1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast (estimate: $1,750,000-$2,250,000) has never been publicly offered for sale, with one owner since 1966 and approximately 13,500 original miles – possibly the lowest-mile example in existence. This particular car was displayed at the 1965 Chicago Motor Show and sold to New York Collector Dieter Holterbosch. Offered in its original orange (arancia) leather interior, this Series 1 model was the sixth example built of 36 produced.
