1946 Chrysler Town and Country Roadster sold for $143,000

The RM Auctions Charlie Thomas Collection sale was held October 20th, 2012 at the Gaylord Texan near Dallas, Texas, resulting in $7.4 million in sales with 100% of lots sold.

The Charlie Thomas Collection featured 175 collector cars from early flatheads to ’50s convertibles and ’60s muscle and sports cars. The sale attracted bidders from eight countries and 31 states across the United States, with 43% of bidders representing first-time clientele.

Top result at the 2012 single-day sale went to the 1946 Chrysler Town and Country Roadster, created from period designs of a planned car, that brought $143,000. Other notable sales included a 1954 Packard Caribbean Convertible for $132,000 and a 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Fuel-Injected Convertible that sold for $126,500. In addition, a 1952 Willys Military Jeep achieved $22,000, with 100% of proceeds, including auction commissions, benefiting the Brookwood Community, a non-profit residential facility and vocational program in Brookshire, Texas supporting adults with disabilities.
