Tazio Nuvolari has found a new home, or at least his museum has. The museum devoted to him and his motor racing career, originally housed in the Palazzo del Podestà, in his hometown of Mantua, was closed over a year ago so that the building could be restored. However, last September 17th the Flying Mantuan’s famous gold tortoise, trophies, medals, honors, photographs, paintings, racing gear and many other unique artifacts in the care of the Automobile Club of Mantua—of which Tazio was president from 1946 until his death—went on display again in the city’s Palazzo Ducale, to coincide with the start of the club’s Nuvolari Grand Prix for vintage racecars. The exhibits will remain on public display there until the club finds a permanent location for the priceless collection.
