1956 Maserati 250F that won the 1956 Monaco Grand Prix driven by Stirling Moss

A Maserati 250F that won the 1956 Monaco Grand Prix in the hands of Stirling Moss will be sold at RM Auctions upcoming Ferrari Leggenda e Passione event on May 17th in Maranello, Italy.

“This year’s sale is exceeding our expectations. We have some incredible and unusual early cars offered for sale as well as some of the most desirable sports and racing Ferraris ever made. The recent addition of a Monaco Grand Prix-winning Maserati 250F is another incredibly exciting development. Cars like that simply don’t come to the market on any but the rarest occasions,” said Max Girardo, Managing Director of RM Europe.

The Maserati 250F is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and successful Grand Prix cars ever made. In period it enjoyed enormous competition success in the hands of legendary names such as Juan-Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss.

RM Auctions is offering for sale the 1956 Monaco Grand Prix-winning example taken to victory in the hands of Stirling Moss. Chassis number 2526 enjoyed an extensive racing career and was also driven in period by Fangio, Jean Behra, Carroll Shelby and others during the 1957 and 1958 seasons. Amazingly, the current owner is only the fourth privileged custodian of this significant car since it was manufactured.
