Wilmot Hills

From 1954–1967, Wilmot Hills Raceway, in Wilmot, Wisconsin, played host to a wide variety of road races.

Built by the Chicago region of the SCCA just north of the Illinois­Wisconsin border, the 1-mile circuit at Wilmot Hills was one of the first purpose-built race circuits in the Mid-west. The circuit was built on land leased from a ski resort which, considering the fact that the ski lodge was located next to the front straight, meant that racers enjoyed above-average trackside acc­om­modations. How­ever, in 1967, the resort decided to expand the lodge and so refused to renew the track’s lease, resulting in Wilmot Hills becoming another one of the many American race circuits to disappear.
