Russo and Steele will hold its 12th annual Sports and Muscle in Scottsdale auction on January 18-22, 2012 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Russo and Steele will offer more than 700 cars over five days, headlined 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra Prototype, 1968 Chevrolet L-88 Corvette Roadster, 1965 Shelby GT350R, 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC, 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda, among others. The featured 427 Cobra CSX3127 served as Shelby’s test vehicle to gauge customer response to the 427 Street cars. Shelby American records indicate 3127 was completed on September 9th, 1965, after which it was also used as Shelby’s demonstrator and public relations car. It found itself at the center of Hollywood when it was loaned to celebrities and movie studios, such as Universal Studios and Paramount Studios, in addition to an astronaut and Ford executive.
The 2012 “Sports and Muscle in Scottsdale” will see the debut of Russo and Steele’s improvements to its Scottsdale auction venue, including additional space for consignments, new asphalt and the Losberger main auction structure that holds the main auction block, vehicle staging, vendors and sponsors.
The auction will be held at Russo and Steele’s traditional site just east of North Scottsdale Road and the North Loop 101 Freeway in Scottsdale, Arizona. General admission, $20; Bidder registration, $150; VIP guest, $75. Additional bidder’s guests, $50 each.
