The two-car historic Mustang GTP effort of Americans Richard and Benton Bryan made their European debut at the Group C/GTP organization’s May 7–9 race at Spa Francorchamps.
The Bryans, of Knoxville, Tennessee have been ardent supporters and competitiors of the Group C/GTP group, having run many races with them in their Lancia Group C cars. Now, the Bryans have brought a decidedly more American flavor with the two-car Mustang effort that includes the ex-Klaus Ludwig/Bobby Rahal car, powered by a 4-cylinder turbo motor and its V-8-powered sister car. Both chassis have been campaigned in the U.S. for the past few years.
When asked about the cars, Benton Bryan remarked, “We are excited about bringing these IMSA cars to Europe for the first time. There are several teams from the U.S. coming this season, so Spa should be a real barn burner!”
