The 2011 edition of Modena Trackdays was held June 29-30 at the legendary Nürburgring racing circuit in Nürburg, Germany.
Beginning in 1993, Modena Trackdays has been held every other year on the race tracks of the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps, coordinated by Modena Motorsport of Germany. The event has become one of the premier Ferrari track events in the world, as it artfully combines modern machinery like Scuderia Ferrari F1 and Ferrari FXX with historical icons such as the Ferrari 340 Vignale Spider, Ferrari 196 S Dino Fantuzzi Spyder, Ferrari 512M, Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione and Ferrari 512 BB/LM.
And lest you think this is a Ferrari-only event, the 2011 running also included such notables as the ex-Roy Salvadori Maserati 250F s/n 2507, Maserati 300S, Ford GT40 Mk II chassis XGT-2, Alfa Romeo TZ, McLaren F1 GTR, Porsche 908/3, Audi R8 driven by Jacky Ickx, among others.
Driving groups at Modena Trackdays 2011 were grouped into the following classes: Modern Street Cars of all makes (from 1976), Historic Cars of all makes (up to 1975), Formula Cars and Super Sports Cars.
The driving event ends with a Concours d’Elegance for vehicles built by Ferrari SpA and its former names, including Dino street and racing cars. Best of Show at Modena Trackdays 2011 was awarded to the Ferrari 126 C2 Formula One of M. Willms.
Photographer Julien Mahiels documented Modena Trackdays 2011 with the following picture gallery of the cars on and around the Nurburgring circuit. This is the first time Julien’s work has been featured on Sports Car Digest. We hope you enjoy his photos as much as we do. To see more from Julien, visit www.flickr.com/julienmahiels.
