The Mille Miglia 2011 took place 11-14 May in Italy on the historic roads from Brescia to Rome and back to Brescia. There are 375 cars built between 1927 and 1957 challenging each other and themselves in the modern revival.
Far more than a historic car rally, the Mille Miglia Storica is a virtual step back to the era of 1927 to 1957 when these racing cars roared across the Italian countryside and towns at the hands of such greats as Nuvolari, Marzotto, Biondetti, Caracciola and Moss. And as the pictures attest, spectators of all ages enthusiastically support and cheer the cars and drivers.
In addition to our Mille Miglia 2011 event photo gallery and our Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia photo gallery, we also offer pictures from “Behind the Scenes” at this year’s Mille Miglia that give an overview of the pre-race action, spectators and participants along the 1,000 mile route, not to mention a few of Madalina Ghenea, Godmother of Mille Miglia 2011. Also included are many action photos that did not make our general picture gallery.

Great images that we rarely see of these events. And the Godmother…oh my.
OK, without really considering all the rest, your photog’s capture of that Italian lady greetiing, and being greeted by, a driver tops them all…hands down! One of the greatest automotive sport photos I’ve ever enjoyed seeing.
Thanks for sharing.

I concur. It says everything about what makes Italy the mecca for enthusiasts.
