The Legends of Motorsports at Barber Motorsports Park 2011, scheduled for May 20-22, will include three cars from the Collier Collection: 1967 Porsche 910/6, 1971 Porsche 908/3 and a 1965 Ferrari 250LM.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the entries from the Collier Collection that we have received for Barber,” said Bobby Rahal, Series Co-Founder and 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner. “As a historic racing series, Legends of Motorsports strives to create quality, authentic events and when cars of this stature are entered, it gives credence to our mission.”

The Collier Collection, owned by Miles Collier, includes over 100 cars of unique historic and racing pedigree, along with an extensive automotive library and archive, known as the Revs Institute for Automotive Research, a 501 C-3 not-for-profit educational foundation, with over 20,000 books, 300,000 magazines and 1 million catalogs, photos and letters. The cars that have been entered from the Collier Collection will participate in an on-track test day on Thursday, May 19 prior to confirming their participation in the racing events on Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to the entries from the Collier Collection, the Legends of Motorsports at Barber Motorsport Park 2011 entry list also includes some Historic Grand Prix cars from the 1960’s, ‘70’s and ‘80’s. Highlights include a 1969 Ferrari 312; Lotus 77; and a Brabham BT-44. The cars, which raced in Formula One, are always a fan favorite on the 2.38 mile natural terrain road course at Barber Motorsports Park. Many of the notable entries for the Legends of Motorsports event at Barber Motorsports Park have not been raced in years, or at all, so their entry and intended participation should be well-received.

In addition to the on-track action, the Legends of Motorsports weekend ticket includes free paddock access, fan forums, autograph sessions, car club corrals and track laps and a family-friendly kids’ zone. The weekend kicks off with a Road Rally on Friday evening, starting at Barber Motorsports Park and culminating at a street festival in downtown Mountain Brook. Tickets can be purchased through www.legendsofmotorsports.com or www.barbermotorsports.com.
