HSR-West Sold to SVRA

Formula racers at Thunderhill RacewayThe vintage car racing landscape in North America continues to change, as Sports-Car Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) is expanding its operations to the West Coast with the purchase of Historic Sports-Car Racing West (HSR–West).

HSR-West was founded in Southern California by Ed Swart in 1999, with East Coast-based HSR operating as partner to the newly-formed historic racing organization. HSR-West typically organizes 4-6 races per year at tracks like Willow Springs, California Speedway, Thunderhill, Buttonwillow and Chuckwalla Valley.

“HSR-West has entered into a definitive sales agreement and has been sold to SVRA, a Parella Racing company. We expect the assets to be transferred in November, 2012 following our scheduled race in Palm Springs,” said Ed Swart, President of HSR-West. “I’m very pleased to see HSR-West become part of SVRA. I’m looking forward to managing SVRA-West and helping grow SVRA into the only nationwide Historic/Vintage Racing organization in the United States.”

Tony Parella, President and CEO of SVRA, commented, “I am very excited to have Ed Swart and HSR-West become part of our future. Ed has a storied history in racing and is the founder of HSR-West. He will be a valued part of our team. We will work hard to standardize our rules to set the stage for a true Vintage Racing National Championship. We also plan to expand our race season with more events for both SVRA East and West competitors over the coming months.”
