A highlight of the Revival is the collection of WWII fighters like this Spitfire. A number of flyovers take place over the weekend, some in formation.

I’ve always been fascinated with the Goodwood Revival concept of “a magical step back in time.” For some time, I’ve been determined to take in at least one. The opportunity arose and 2006 was the year.
Goodwood is an amazing place. I can’t think of anywhere else quite like it. It’s an estate that covers almost 12,000 acres near the town of Chichester, which is between Brighton and Portsmouth, about three hours from London by car. We think of Goodwood as devoted to auto racing, but it’s far more than that. There are a wide variety of functions and activities all during the year. The largest is horse racing, which goes on for 20 consecutive days. Additionally, there is a 3,000-acre organic farm, a dairy, an airdrome with flying school, a hotel and an extensive forest.
