Set against the San Diego Bay, the 2008 Coronado Speed Festival was held September 27th – 28th on a 1.7 mile course on the runways and taxiways of Naval Air Station North Island.
Over 20,000 spectators gathered for the 11th annual vintage races held on the make-shift and well-loved NAS, North Island racetrack. Vintage racing fans took a step back in time as they visited the garage area to see their favorite vintage racers. Additionally, there were other sights to behold, including the massive Meguiar’s Car Club Corral, plus the Navy’s vintage and modern jets and helicopters.
“We couldn’t be happier with this year’s turnout,” said Larry Blumberg, Chair of the Coronado Speed Festival Committee. “With more passionate racers and fans showing their support each year, Speed Fest continues to be a success.”

Jamie
I just checked these shots a little closer and the jets were definitely added to the second to last photo. The sun isn’t coming from the right direction, and the clouds and jets are identical to the previous shot.
I actually think they are also added in the previous shot, because they are behind the crowd, yet no one is paying any attention to them.
Photoshop is my game …
Cheers!
Paul –
I’m sure you are correct that both are photoshop jobs. They were fun ideas, so I included them in the gallery nonetheless.
Best,
SCD
Actually, I also forgot to mention that these are fabulous shots … thanks for the post.
Cheers!
