The revival of a great tradition is being undertaken by Mathias Doutreleau as he endeavors to recreate the many Concours d’Elegance held between 1924 and 1954 on the shores of Switzerland’s Lake Geneva. This June 18-19, the past will come to life again at the 1st Concours d’Elegance Suisse on the grounds of the Chateau de Coppet.
“The event pays tribute to the historical and cultural heritage of the automobile,” explains Doutreleau. “In addition to beautiful collection cars, genuine masterpieces that are rarely seen, we will also be presenting themes celebrating the art of mechanics.”
While the main theme of the event is the Pop Art Era from 1958 to 1969, entries will compete in 18 classes, including a dedicated class for Hispano-Suiza (which can trace Genevan roots), as well as 50th Anniversary celebrations for the Lamborghini Miura, launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1966, the Maserati Ghibli and the Jensen Interceptor.
While the traditional charter for such concours dictates vehicles built before 1975, this inaugural event will also include a “Future Classics” grouping for cars from 1975 to 1985. For further information please visit www.concoursdelegancesuisse.com
