The Mecum Kansas City 2014 Auction was held April 24-26 at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri, resulting in $8,678,668 in total sales and a sell-through rate of 65 percent. Of the 574 cars that crossed the block, 370 were purchased during the three-day auction.

The all-indoor auction held at Bartle Hall in the Kansas City Convention Center is a continued favorite for Mecum, along with its sister auction held annually at the same location in December. With eight football fields worth off contiguous, column-free space, the main exhibition hall is an inviting area for enthusiasts who enjoy the auction’s laid-back nature and the Midwest ambiance that abounds.

The top result at the 2014 Mecum Kansas City Spring sale went to a candy apple red 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback (Lot S95) that hammered sold for $260,000. Chassis KK #1238, documented as one of the first 50 hand-built prototype 429s, was offered complete with comprehensive ownership history and the original build sheets. The next highest results came from of a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window Coupe that brought $107,000, followed by a 1967 Ford Mustang Resto Mod that made $96,000.
