Two important Duesenbergs will highlight a carefully curated selection of approximately 120 important automobiles at RM Sotheby’s 10th annual Hershey, Pennsylvania, auction, scheduled for October 6-7. The star-attraction pair is being offered from more than 50 years of single-family ownership.
The first of the Duesenbergs is a 1930 Model J Dual-Cowl Phaeton, J-347, one of only three Dual-Cowl Phaetons originally bodied to coachbuilder Walter J. Murphy’s stunning open design. Its fascinating history can be found by visiting www.rmsothebys.com. The second car is a 1927 Duesenberg Model A/Y Phaeton Prototype, that is also historically interesting as when E.L. Cord acquired Duesenberg Motors in 1926, he and founding brother Fred Duesenberg, set out to build the world’s greatest automobile.
