• The 1977 McLaren M26-Ford that James Hunt drove to his final Grand Prix victory in that year’s Japanese Grand Prix, was the top seller at November’s RK Motors Collector Car Auction in Charlotte, N.C., attracting the event’s top bid of $1.2 million.
• The Grand Prix Drivers Club (GPDC), established in 1962 by nine former Grand Prix F1 drivers headed by Louis Chiron and Juan Manuel Fangio, held its annual General Assembly at Goodwood House (UK) on Friday September 13, 2013. The club, whose current Honorary President is Maria Teresa de Filippis, the first woman driver to compete in Formula One, elected a new interim board with Howden Ganley (NZ) President, Emanuele Pirro (I) and Teddy Pilette (B) Vice Presidents, Theo K.Huschek (Aut) General Secretary and Agnes Carlier (CH) Deputy Secretary. A number of new members were adopted, including Derek Daly (Ireland) and Alex Yoong (Malaysia), and a special “invited member,” Dario Franchitti (Scotland) was also appointed.
