1958 MG EX 186

Since the doors opened in 1924, the MG Car Company of Great Britain has been producing interesting and innovative automobiles. The decade of the 1950s was a particularly magical time for sports and competition cars, and MG was in the thick of it with factory racers and experimental cars.  While celebrated by MG aficionados, the experimental MGs are not widely known, but in general they were awesome machines.

In 1954, George Eyston completed a flying 10-mile speed trial at 153.69 mph in EX 171. Two years later, the car went 170.15 mph motivated by an MGA twin cam. Three years later, EX 181 captured five speed trial records, with Stirling Moss registering an astounding 245.64 mph with a blown 1500-cc MGA twin screamer.
