1909 Benz 200 HP – In 1911, Bob Burman clocked up 228.1 km/h on the sand track at Daytona beach. This made the “Blitzen-Benz”, as the model was known in the USA, the fastest vehicle in the world – even faster than any aeroplane or train. The record was to stand for eight years.
